It is owned 100% by the government. The main objective is to offer credit facilities to farmers for agricultural and entrepreneurial development in agro-based, cottage alongside large scale industries (Afroz 2012). This is aimed at alleviating poverty of Bangladesh as hugest government institution. Core business The Bank offers commercial banking services for entrepreneurs and farmers in agro-based alongside cottage industries. Besides the convention product asset and liability sides, it provides special credit products for its clients. It has ancillary services that include consultancy, representative services and foreign currency remittance. The Banks has foreign exchange business with 16 authorized dealer branches.
