It is owned 100% by the government. This is aimed at alleviating poverty of Bangladesh as hugest government institution. Core business The Bank offers commercial banking services for entrepreneurs and farmers in agro-based alongside cottage industries. The Bank has broad array of product lines that suit the need of individuals of each strata. Besides the convention product asset and liability sides, it provides special credit products for its clients. It has ancillary services that include consultancy, representative services and foreign currency remittance. The Banks has foreign exchange business with 16 authorized dealer branches. Krishi banks contribution to economy The Bank contributes to the development of rural areas by working for overall development alongside gaining dependency in production of food. It contributes the biggest share of agricultural loan. Employee numbers The bank has total of 2819 first class and 1560 second class officers auditing the total number of 4379. The 3rd and 4th class officers are 3080 and 1707. This brings total staff of the bank to 4787 for 3rd and 4th class. The total number of employees are thus 9166. Branches The bank has 973 branches. The corporate branches are 8, branches in town are 76, branch under municipality are 76, union level branches are 592, and Thana level branches are 246. Revenue The Bank makes losses based on loan issued and hence it is not revenue-oriented. Operation It operates via 973 local branches mostly located in rural areas.
